Of Bird poop and Mercedes cars

There are a couple of tree lined roads near my house which we use frequently. Many of these trees have a resident population of birds and let nobody convince you that these are well .. bird brained.

Bird poop goes with birds and the frequency with which we would hear plops or find runny messes on our hair or clothes even led us to avoid one of these roads for some time, especially at the time our avian friends would be roosting on the branches in the evening. The worst part was that there would be no advance warning. The ultimate level of poop bombing happened one day when I reached the temple after traversing this road and put my fingers into my shirt pocket to take something out. I found my fingers sticky and gooey and messy. It took me a minute to figure out that one of these brilliant birds had done its business into my shirt pocket from a height of about forty feet, while I was walking under the tree on which it was resting .. and I had not even realised it! All the more reason why it was dangerous to look up for these creatures because the mess could fall right into your mouth, couldn't it?!

I went by the same road today on my morning walk and what I saw warmed the cockles of my heart. I saw a large gleaming Mercedes SUV parked - with a big splash of bird mess on its bonnet. After all, this bird was a perfect democrat. It did not discriminate between make of vehicles. But was the bird a Leftist, since it had targeted the car worth about a crore of rupees?

This aspect needs further investigation.

  1. Am a chronic sufferer of this. My poor I10 is at the receiving end of the poop every day. Invariably the windscreen will have 2 or 3 dried poo patches by the afternoon , which needs to be rinsed off before the the car emerges for visits to market or elsewhere.
